Aadhaar is a 12 digit number which will serve as a proof of identity and address, anywhere in India, issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India on behalf of the Government of India. Any individual, infants to an adult, who is a resident in India and satisfies the verification process laid down by the UIDAI, can enroll for Aadhaar. Enrollment of Aadhaar card is free of cost.
The waiting time for Aadhaar may vary from 60-90 days after receipt of resident data packets in CIDR. However, it could take even longer in case enrolment is done through NPR exercise.
The top of your acknowledgement slip contains 14 digit enrolment number and the 14 digit date and time of enrolment. These 28 digits together form your temporary enrolment ID (EID).
